
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced marketing and operations expert to manage, organize and brand the Startup World Cup platform. Startup World Cup (www.startupworldcup.io) is a series of global startup conferences and competitions, consisting of 100+ regional startup competitions around the world, leading up to the Grand Finale in Silicon Valley. The first half of the finale will be conference style sessions, featuring prominent industry expert guest speakers. Then, top startups from each regional event will fly out to the USA to compete for a $1,000,000 prize. Many of the regional events are partnered with established technology/startup conferences in each country. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and organizing regional events with partner events, and implementing an effective marketing strategy to propel brand growth. You will work cross-functionally to understand marketing needs, and act as a platform brand ambassador to external sources.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
● Global Expansion & Partnerships: Identify and secure regional partners (accelerators, government agencies, and tech conferences) to host SWC regional events in 100+ cities worldwide.
● Grand Finale Production: Lead the end-to-end execution of the Grand Finale in Silicon Valley, including venue selection, stage production, and attendee experience for 3,000+ guests.
● Sponsorship & Revenue: Develop a global sponsorship strategy, targeting Fortune 500 companies and tech giants to secure six-figure and seven-figure partnership deals.
● Speaker Recruitment: Leverage the Pegasus network to recruit "A-list" keynote speakers, judges (top-tier VCs), and panelists for the Grand Finale and key regional events.
● Marketing & Brand Growth: Oversee the global marketing strategy to ensure consistent branding across all 100+ regions and drive high-quality startup applications.
● Ecosystem Engagement: Build and manage the "Startup World Cup Mentor & Judge Network," engaging industry experts to support the platform’s credibility.
● Team Leadership: Manage a cross-functional team of marketing, operations, and business development professionals dedicated to the SWC platform.
Qualifications
● Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
● Experience: 7+ years of experience in high-level Event Management, Business Development, or Brand Marketing. Experience with large-scale tech conferences is a major advantage.
● Leadership: Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects across different time zones and cultures.
● Sales Acumen: Strong track record in B2B sales or corporate sponsorship, with the ability to pitch to C-level executives.
● Communication: World-class presentation skills; you will be the "face" of Startup World Cup to global media and partners.
● Strategic Vision: Ability to transform a pitch competition into a year-round global innovation community.
